Consumer disputes are non arbitrable

The Supreme Court in M. Hemalatha Devi & Ors V. B. Udayasri, Civil Appeal Nos.6500 & 6501 of 2023 has held, in a case pertaining to a consumer complaint filed by a home buyer against a builder, that, consumer disputes are non arbitrable and a party cannot be compelled into arbitration in such a case.
